A friend of mine, Eric Tomeo, has put together a blog that has a five different people (myself included) that write thoughts on the same scripture verse. Its updated everyday with a different persons reflection. You should totally check it out, and leave comments. Thanks. Oh, and forward it to friends. Unless of course you think its dumb. So, It started today, with John 1, and everyday someone different will write on John 1 (in very creative ways, through video, art, poetry, or prose) until next week, when it’s a different scripture verse. So, anyway, check it out. http://www.lifelikejesus.blogspot.com/
| the above picture is a representation of who i was. that was me, that was my truck and at any given hour, those are the items you would find in the back of it. i even have a nickname that old friends still know me by, XJ2000. i have always cherished this name because it meant a lot to me. a girl, in 2000, looked in the back of my truck and said, "holy crap, you are all extreme, extreme Justin, XJ, XJ2000." i will never forget that day, because i was, i was XJ2000. yesterday, that name died.
getting older, getting married, having now 2 (well almost 2) children, and moving away from the beach slowly started taking things out of that truck. recently i purchased a new longboard. this has been my transportation to and from work. when i bought it, i felt as if i bought some youth back. if you read my blog you will remember this post from a few weeks ago when i ate it hard and busted my chin. well, last night, i think i broke my arm. yep, it was a long night of pain and i had one realization this morning. i am no longer XJ2000. the board is going to the garage where hopefully one of my sons will one day wonder what it is and want to ride it. i am no longer the agile, wiry, unbreakable kid i used to be. sigh.
i always wondered why i always see older men running. thats about all i can do anymore. once more, sigh.
| So last night a few friends and I went to see the movie “The Ten.” Basically, it is about 25+ (according to IMDB) well to moderately known actors doing 10 different stories based on each one of the 10 commandments. I was so excited to see this movie, I knew it was just going to be filled with good commentary and leave us thinking some sort of hard thought. Neither was true. It was quite funny at parts, but there was really nothing really said, nothing really to think about other than that actors have a ton of inside jokes that I will never be a part of. That was pretty disappointing. Am I saying don’t see the movie? No. I am just saying don’t go with any expectation or you will most likely end up disappointed too.
oh, and ps outside of that, i think you had to be Jewish to be in the movie, and possibly to fully enjoy the movie.
